  • Education - Disseminate knowledge and foster learning within the structural engineering profession and broader community by providing resources, training programs, workshops, and other educational initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills, expertise, and understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, building codes, standards, and innovations.
  • Advocacy - Promote the interests, rights, and well-being of structural engineers, as well as supporting policies, regulations, and practices that advance the profession and benefit society. Raise awareness about the importance of structural engineering, address challenges facing the profession, and champion solutions that promote safety, sustainability, and excellence in construction.
  • Public Welfare – Hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public in all aspects of structural engineering practice by adhering to standards, codes, and regulations to ensure the structural integrity of buildings, infrastructure, and other engineered systems. Actively participate in initiatives and projects that contribute to community resilience, disaster preparedness, and sustainable development, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for all individuals and communities.
  • Ethics - Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, integrity, and accountability in all endeavors related to structural engineering by adhering to ethical codes of conduct, principles of fairness, honesty, and transparency, and respecting the rights, interests, and dignity of all stakeholders. It also involves responsibly managing conflicts of interest, maintaining confidentiality, and striving to uphold the trust and confidence placed in the profession by the public.
  • Charity - Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a commitment to social responsibility by supporting philanthropic initiatives and giving back to the community by leveraging the expertise, resources, and networks of structural engineers to address pressing social, environmental, and humanitarian challenges. This may involve volunteering time and skills for charitable projects, providing pro bono services to underserved communities, and partnering with non-profit organizations to support initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and sustainable development.
