Membership FAQs
How do I join SEAW?
Visit the SEAW membership page, select your local chapter, and complete the online application. Membership is available statewide through one of four local chapters.
How long does membership last?
Memberships are renewed annually. Memberships are effective until December 31st of that year. Membership needs to be renewed each January. Renewal reminders start being sent out towards mid of December.
What membership levels are available?
The levels available are Associate, Member PE, Member SE, Affiliate, and Student. There is more information about the requirements for each level in the Membership section.
Can I change my membership category later?
Yes. Contact the SEAW office (Info@SEAW.org or 206-338-7376) if your licensure status or professional role changes.
Do students pay membership dues?
No. Student membership is currently offered at no cost.
Can I join if I’m not an engineer?
Yes, Affiliate memberships are available for industry partners, vendors, sponsors, and others that interact with structural engineers. Please see Membership section for more information.
What are the benefits of membership?
Benefits include continuing education opportunities, local networking and education events, committee participation, leadership opportunities, industry advocacy, and access to member communications, member-only resources, membership to NCSEA and subscription to the Structure Magazine.
How do I activate my new member account? How do I login to my account for the first time?
If you are a new member or have not yet accessed the member portal, click Log In on the SEAW website and select Forgot Password. Enter the email address associated with your membership account to receive instructions for setting your password and activating your account. If you do not receive the activation email or do not know what email you registered with, please contact the SEAW office (Info@SEAW.org or 206-338-7376) for assistance.
Events & Continuing Education FAQs
How do I register for events?
After logging into your SEAW account, navigate to the event page. From the event page, click register. Please note, not all local events have online registration enabled. Please see the instructions for each event to determine how to register.Do members receive discounted event pricing?
Yes. Many SEAW events and conferences offer reduced registration rates for members. Please see the event pricing for reduced membership rates.
Can non-members attend SEAW events?
Yes. Many events are open to non-members.
Will I receive PDH credits for attending seminars?
Eligible educational events will indicate the number of PDH credits available in the event description. Please note that PDHs need to be picked up at the event.
Where can I find upcoming events?
Upcoming events are listed on the Events section of the SEAW website.
Account & Website FAQs
How do I update my contact information?
Log into your member account and update your profile information, or contact the SEAW office for assistance.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page to reset your password.
How do I renew my membership?
Renewal notices are sent prior to expiration. Members can renew by logging into their online account or by clicking the link in the renewal notice.
Can I control what information appears in the member directory?
Yes. Members can manage what is visible on the member directory through their profile privacy settings.
Committees & Volunteering FAQs
How do I join a committee?
Members can review available committees on the website. To join the committee, please contact the committee chair or SEAW office.
Do I need prior committee experience?
No. Most committees welcome new volunteers and provide opportunities for members at all career stages.
Can young engineers get involved?
Yes, SEAW encourages engineers at all stages of their careers to get involved and participate. SEAW offers Young Member Group (YMG) activities, leadership opportunities, and networking events specifically tailored to young members. SEAW generally considers anyone in their mid-30s and younger to be a ‘Young Member’. However, all those young at heart are welcome to participate.

Does SEAW offer scholarships?
Yes. Scholarships are available to eligible students pursuing structural engineering studies. See the scholarship page for current opportunities.
Who is eligible for SEAW scholarships?
Eligibility requirements are published with each scholarship cycle and generally focus on students pursuing careers in structural engineering.
How can student chapters get involved with SEAW?
Students can participate through local chapter activities, networking events, mentorship opportunities, and volunteer programs. The Outreach Committee works to provide student outreach opportunties. Please reach out to your local chapter leadership or the Outreach Committee leadership to learn more ways of connecting.
