What You Do: The Structural Engineer will conduct structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry and wood building structures using governing codes including construction administration under the direction of the Principal Engineer. What You Have:

  • Experienced in Revit, RISA 3D, RAM, and ETABS.

Structural Design Engineer 2/6/2019

Job Description: Quantum Consulting Engineers, a downtown Seattle structural engineering firm, seeks a project engineer with a minimum of 2 to 6 years relevant experience.  Experience should include designing a variety of building types and structures in various building materials, including concrete, steel, masonry, and wood-frame construction.  Familiarity with structural detailing, seismic design and evaluation of existing structures is a plus. The position will involve preparing structural calculations and construction drawings (under the guidance of a senior engineer) for commercial, residential, mixed-use, industrial, and public-building projects.

Candidates must have earned a bachelor's degree in engineering.  A professional engineering PE license is required and an SE License is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

King County Metro Transit is seeking two Structural Engineers to play critical roles supporting the design and delivery of several critical transit capital projects. These positions will play an important role in helping Metro deliver on its mission to expand and improve transit and mobility services to our communities. Metro may fill these positions at either a Level IV or Level III classification, depending on candidate qualifications and business need. Structural Engineers are required to use imagination and creative abilities to design new Metro facilities, modify existing facilities to meet future needs, and to repair facilities as necessary to meet the needs of the operating and maintenance divisions. Strong analytical capabilities are needed to examine and evaluate specific engineering problems and develop and coordinate the appropriate solutions. Good oral and written communication skills are required to relate technical information to a variety of audiences. In addition to the work above, a Structural Engineer at the IV level will perform advanced level engineering on an independent basis; play a lead role developing work plans; schedule and budget for projects; stamp and sign plans and designs; and provide assistance to more junior engineers as required.
Skills/Requirements: EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:Transit Structural Engineer III Minimum Qualifications• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is required. • Two years of engineering experience beyond the requirements for an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification. Experience must demonstrate knowledge of mathematics, physical and engineering sciences and the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design. • Possession of an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or four years of engineering work commensurate with an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration is required, which indicates that the incumbent is competent to practice engineering and meets the requirements to qualify for an EIT. Transit Structural Engineer IV Minimum Qualifications• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is required. • At least Five (5) years of professional Engineer experience. • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington, or the ability to obtain a state license within 90 days from date of hire.Additional requirements for both III and IV Levels include:• Excellent analytical abilities. • Good written and oral communication skills. • Ability to work with a diverse group of people. • Strong customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with King County staff at various levels, consultants, other public agency engineering personnel, local utilities and governmental agencies. • Ability to work independently or as part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others. • Ability to prioritize assignments, stay organized and manage rapidly changing priorities (must be able to successfully work on a number of projects simultaneously). • A valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to get one by time of hire, or ability to travel to work sites in a timely manner.Desired Qualifications• A master's degree in engineering. • Registration as a Professional Structural Engineer in the State of Washington.
