About the Committee

The Public Information Committee handles dissemination of structural engineering-related communication by SEAW members and for SEAW members. The committee oversees the SEAW LinkedIn and Facebook pages (and any other social media), and the flagship Equilibrium newsletter. The Equilibrium publishes 10 times a year, monthly with the exception of a Summer July/August edition and a Winter December/January edition. All SEAW members are invited to contribute to the Equilibrium newsletter. The newsletter includes:

• Messages from State and Chapter leadership
• Updates on State and Chapter committees
• Recaps of key events or presentations
• Event previews and calls to action
• First-person submissions from members (“Notes from Afield”)
• Summary calendar of events
• New member listings
• Paid hiring notices

At times, the PIC also does additional work to promote initiatives from NCSEA (such as the We SEE Above and Beyond outreach effort) and special events like anniversaries, conferences, and more.

The Equilibrium newsletter is published electronically 10 times per year and aims to provide SEAW members with news, articles, and information that contributes to professional development.
