Earthquake Engineering Committee |
About the Committee |
The SEAW Earthquake Engineering Committee’s mission is to “Advance earthquake engineering practice and help the local structural engineering community to provide better seismic design for building structures.” EEC’s mission is an extension of SEAW’s mission which is “to the advancement of excellence in structural engineering through building code advocacy, continuing educations, research, emergency preparedness, exchange of ideas, and mentoring, to ensure the highest standards of practice are upheld and to guard public safety.”
SEAW meets bi-monthly on the Fourth Tuesday of every month at noon in a virtual meeting. At that meeting, the EEC discusses ongoing activities related to building code development, jurisdictional activities related to structural engineering, and special presentations on structural engineering topics.
The EEC also operated task groups that are focused on specific earthquake engineering topics. Recent task groups have helped to develop Washington state building code amendments, and authored technical white papers intended to advance earthquake engineering practice.
