Structural Engineer Principal in Charge | 4/26/2024

Company: Acumen Executive Search
Location: San Jose, CA

Acumen is pleased to partner with DAEDALUS -- a boutique structural engineering firm with a sustainability focus to hire their next Principal in Charge (PIC) to support their rapid growth. DAEDALUS partners with Best-In-Class architects on projects ranging from custom residential designs of $35M homes of the highest profile Bay Area residents to stunning 12-story mass timber towers to destination wineries in Napa and Sonoma to the Presidio Visitor’s Center to unique structures on the Carmel Coast and in Hawaii. No two projects are the same for DAEDALUS, from community centers with living roof supported by mass timber framing, historic university buildings that are seismically retrofitted while maintaining the original aesthetic, and residential structures that challenge with cantilevered rooms and designs that orient to breathtaking views.

DAEDALUS believes that only through collaboration with the entire project team can each project reach its designed and built potential. Whether structural elements are intended to define a project’s architectural aesthetic or are completely concealed beneath the architectural facade, DAEDALUS believes that the structure provides, not hinders, opportunities to mold and shape the architectural vision of each project.

Nursery Construction Project Coordinator, CPC3 | 4/9/2024

Company: Washington State Department of Natural Resources
Location: Thurston County – Tumwater, WA

Want to Join Something GREAT and Make a Difference?

This position is responsible for managing facilities and infrastructure construction projects for DNR’s Webster Forest Nursery and Seed Programs. Webster is one of the premier state forest seedling nurseries in the country. Our staff has grown and shipped over 950 million seedlings since the nursery was established in 1957. These seedlings have been planted on public, private, and DNR-managed forest lands throughout Washington and nearby states.  We have consistently invested in our infrastructure in the last 15 years and are now accelerating our efforts by undertaking numerous facilities maintenance, replacement, and expansion projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to support facility improvements for a highly functioning program that provides a critical public service into the next decade.

Webster Forest Seedling Nursery has considerable infrastructure at our 270-acre complex in Tumwater, Washington. Our current facilities include 75,000 square feet of climate-controlled greenhouses, 13 high-capacity irrigation wells, 24 buildings containing 66,000 square feet, and a total asset value (facilities, equipment, and supplies) in excess of $60 million. We are currently in the process of constructing a new 15,200-square-foot seed processing center and a 2,000-square-foot storage building. We are also scoping a potential expansion of the nursery with a goal of eventually constructing up to 66,000 square feet of additional greenhouses and a 17,500 square foot seedling processing facility if funded by the legislature. Scoping includes environmental and cultural resource assessments, as well as stormwater planning and construction. Though some of these projects are managed by construction project coordinators from DNR’s Facilities Section, there will be numerous projects that will be managed by the Nursery Construction Project Coordinator using multi-year grants that have been obtained for this purpose. These projects include, but are not limited to:

  • On-site project management support for some of the abovementioned projects

  • Water rights assessments

  • Irrigation improvements and optimization

  • Greenhouse climate control equipment upgrades

  • Converting an existing tree seedling cooler into a freezer

  • Contributing to DNR grant applications for nursery improvement by providing facilities project information.
